Branding

St. Louis County LogoFirst of all, what exactly is a brand? Contrary to what you might think, your logo is not your brand. Nor is your company name or your company slogan.

Consider these helpful definitions from whatis.com:

A brand is a product, service, or concept that is publicly distinguished from other products, services, or concepts so that it can be easily communicated and usually marketed.
Branding is the process of creating and disseminating the brand name. Branding can be applied to the entire corporate identity as well as to individual product and service names.

Brands are often expressed in the form of logos, or graphic representations of the brand.

According to famous ad agency founder and copywriter, David Ogilvy: A brand is... The intangible sum of a product's attributes: its name, packaging, and price, its history, its reputation, and the way it's advertised.

We'll add our own definitions: your brand is nothing less than your customers' perception of your business, organization or product, and branding is the process of molding those perceptions in a way which benefits your business.

W.A. Fisher Marketing can brand or re-brand your business, community or organization from the ground up. In most cases, though, we are hired to fine tune our clients' brands by creating new logos, slogans and advertising campaigns that better express their brands to their customers.

Logo Development

In order to successfully create a new logo slogan that will effectively express your brand, we need to understand your business and your customers' perceptions of your business. The deeper that understanding, the more accurately your brand will be expressed. Depending on budget, essential research may be limited to a brief meeting with your company's representatives, or additional research, such as communications audits, customer surveys and focus groups, can be employed.

The cost of a new logo can range anywhere from a few hundred to several thousand dollars depending on budget and the extent of the research and review components to be employed.
