WordPress Developer

W.A. Fisher seeks an experienced and passionate WordPress Developer to join our interactive team! You will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating custom WordPress themes and plugins.

The successful candidate will also possess strong knowledge of the latest industry trends and content management systems and will also have advanced experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Search Console.

This is a contract position with the potential for full-time employment.


  • Program and implement custom features and functionality to meet client needs
  • Establish and assist with the website’s architecture
  • Ensure high-performance and availability and manage all technical aspects of the CMS
  • Work together with professional web designers and turn the design into a custom theme
  • Program plugins if needed to achieve the desired functionality
  • Set up and manage website tracking in Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Search Console


  • 3+ years’ experience building user interfaces for websites and web applications, primarily with WordPress
  • 3+ years’ experience developing responsive design websites
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required


  • Ability to build custom WordPress themes and plugins
  • Ability to convert a comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
  • Proficiency with WooCommerce and/or other e-commerce plugins and platforms
  • Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools {{such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial}}
  • Strong skills for PHP back-end development
  • Ability to create and manage libraries to build efficiencies
  • Proficiency working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome Inspect, etc.
  • Proficiency working with CSS changes and their implications to ensure consistent style across top platforms and browsers
  • Advanced expertise with Google Developer tools, such as Analytics, Tag Manager and Search Console
  • UX expert and understanding of emerging trends
  • Ability to implement SOPs and document processes and procedures as well as make suggestions for better efficiencies
  • Ability to problem-solve and make design decisions
  • Strong written communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to create estimates and perform tasks within project scope and budget
  • Ability to train clients on how to use WordPress to manipulate the site, add content, and whatever else the client needs to know to manage their website
  • Participate in team and client meetings
  • Strong attention to detail
